Karanprayag
Karanprayag is a sacred Himalayan confluence town in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, where the Alaknanda and Pindar rivers merge at 1,451 meters (4,760 feet). As one of the Panch Prayag (five holy confluences) of the Alaknanda, it holds deep spiritual significance in Hindu mythology.
This tranquil town is:
✔ A key stop on the Char Dham Yatra route (between Rudraprayag and Joshimath)
✔ Surrounded by snow-capped peaks like Nanda Devi and Trishul
✔ Less crowded than Rishikesh or Devprayag, offering authentic mountain culture
The name derives from Karna, the legendary Mahabharata warrior who meditated here to seek blessings from the Sun God.
