Joshimath
Joshimath (also known as Jyotirmath) is a sacred Himalayan town in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, nestled at 1,890 meters (6,200 feet). It serves as the gateway to Badrinath Temple (one of the Char Dhams) and the skiing hub of Auli.
This ancient town is perched on the slopes of the Dhauliganga and Alaknanda river valleys, offering breathtaking views of Nanda Devi (7,816m), India’s second-highest peak. Joshimath is not just a pilgrimage stop but also an adventure and cultural hub, known for:

✔ Spiritual Significance – Established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century
✔ Gateway to Treks – Valley of Flowers, Hemkund Sahib, and Nanda Devi National Park
Unlike crowded hill stations, Joshimath retains an old-world charm, with:
